Weekly Trash Pick-Up

Modern Waste, our trusted waste management partner, has requested your cooperation to ensure smooth and efficient trash pickup.

please place your trash cans between two and three feet from the edge of the road.
By adhering to this guideline, Modern Waste will be able to pick up your trash cans without the need to go off the road, ensuring a seamless and timely collection.

MASTER PLAN UPDATE

The Village is in the process of updating the Master Plan that will provide direction for the next ten years.
The Planning Commission meets every month on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 4:00 p.m.
Revision of the Master Plan will be discussed through at least March 2024.

Cambridge Township Firefighter & Rescue Association has recently purchased and installed a weather system at our Onsted Village Station.
Through Ambient Weather Network, you can receive real-time updates for temperature, wind speed, wind direction, lightning and lightning distance. Click HERE!
You can also download the Ambient Weather Network app, search for Onsted, MI, and set the location to Cambridge Fire 85.
You can set alerts for weather activity that you would like to follow.

Compost Drop-off
(weather permitting)
Village residents ONLY may drop off their leaves, minor brush, and grass trimmings at the Waste Water Treatment Plant (8657 Slee Rd.). Proof of village residency may be required.

The site will be closed if it rains hard for a prolonged time before or on a normal day of operation.
If you transport your leaves, grass clippings, or small sticks in a plastic bag, please do not leave the plastic bag at the site.
The Village does not accept full tree cut downs by homeowners or commercial tree cutters.

Garbage Pick-up
Garbage pick-up is every week on Thursday. If there is a holiday in the week, garbage pick-up will be on Friday.
The holidays that will affect garbage pickup are: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
At this time, we currently do not have recycling service.

Leaf Pickup
The Village DPW will pickup leaves in the fall once there is a pile raked to the curbside throughout the Village. Leaf pickup will continue through the fall until the majority of leaves have been picked up. Please do not put leaves on the edge of the street.

Snow Removal - Sidewalks
Village residents are expected to clean off their sidewalks after a snow by noon the following day.

Village residents may put their leaves, sticks and grass (ONLY) to the curb for clean up by the DPW from (2023: TBA)

Storm Damage Collection Guidelines
*All materials will be chipped. Please ensure that there are no foreign objects (i.e., metal, building materials, rocks, etc.) included as these could cause damage to the equipment or injury to those operating the equipment.
• Stack brush neatly between curb and sidewalk with the cut ends facing in one direction.
• Branches should be no larger than 4" in diameter and 6 feet long.
• Stumps or logs must be cut by home owner weighing no more than 100 pounds.
• Keep brush piles away from obstacles such as fire hydrants and utility poles and maintain a safe line of sight distance for pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
• Village crews are not responsible for the removal of brush produced by non-village con-tractors. The collection of brush resulting from a tree removal requires the use of a tree removal service or landscape service.
• Do not tie or bundle branches. Do not bag branches or debris for pickup.
• Yard waste such as plant material such as leaves, grass clippings, small twigs, pruning’s, shrub clippings, pumpkins, branches, brush, flowers, roots and other material commonly thrown away in the course of maintaining yards and gardens from village residences will NOT be picked up.
• Debris that does not meet the villages criteria for free storm damage pickup will be left uncollected and the homeowner shall be notified in writing. If the home owner does not remove/dispose of uncollected debris within 5 days of written notice from the village, the DPW or a sub-contractor for the village will remove it a charge in accordance’s with the village fee schedule.

Street Parking (winter)
Village residents are prohibited from parking on the street from 3:00 am to 6:00 am to allow Village employees to properly remove snow.
Other Services
Cambridge Township provides police and fire service within the Village.
Maple Shade Cemetery is under the authority of Cambridge Township.
